First Day First Show: Tum Bin 2 Is A Washout

Tum Bin 2, the sequel to the hit 2011 musical, has failed to grab the attention of the audiences of 2016

Tum Bin (2001) turned out to be one of the best examples of a sleeper hit in Bollywood. Sadly, that seems unlikely for its sequel starring Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati.

While demonetization seems to have affected the collections of big films like Rock On 2 and Force 2, you cannot blame the cash crunch for the poor performance of Tum Bin 2. The lack of hype around the movie and a star cast which has no big names, led to the movie having a dismal opening day at the ticket windows.

At a few suburban theatres including the generally overcrowded Carnival Cinemas (Andheri) the morning show was cancelled. At some other places where it wasn't cancelled the number of audiences watching the movie was in single digits.

Had the plot and acting of the stars been something to look forward to, atleast those few people walking out of the theatres would have given the movie a thumbs up. But sadly that did not happen to this Anubhav Sinha film. People walking out of theatres are bashing the film and suggesting that except the rehashed Jagjit Singh track, there is nothing else to look forward to.

Well, it will be difficult for the movie to pick up from such a slow start. Let's wait and watch whether it pulls a surprise like the first installment and manages to come out a sleeper hit.
