Pad Man Box-Office Collection: Good Start For Akshay Kumar Starrer, Makes ₹ 10.26 Cr On Day 1

Pad Man starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte is breaking taboos. And if the film’s first day collections are anything to go by, it will soon be breaking box-office records too. Co-produced by Twinkle Khanna and Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment, Pad Man has collected Rs 10.26 Cr on its opening day.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the numbers. “#PadMan has a DECENT start... Fri ₹ 10.26 cr... The biz, expectedly, picked up towards evening/night shows... The journey ahead is crucial... Sat + Sun should witness strong growth for a good weekend total... India biz,” he wrote.



The film has also received fairly good reviews from most sections of the media. For those who've come in late, SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani gave it a 4-and-a-half star rating.

Pad Man opening day collections are quite similar to Akshay Kumar’s last money spinner Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. It has had a decent start of around 20-25%. While the film is doing brisk business in big cities, the smaller sectors are yet to catch up, says a report in Box Office India. With Tiger Zinda Hai having gone off cinemas in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and Padmaavat not playing in these states, Pad Man has an open field in these markets.

What also works in the favour of Pad Man in big centres is that Padmaavat has already had a two-week run, and audiences are looking for new content at cinemas. R Balki’s film satiates that thirst. Pad Man rides on Akshay Kumar’s star power. Kumar’s earlier grossers Airlift and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha had opened to similar numbers, Rs 11.12 Cr and 11 Cr respectively.
