Baahubali 2 Has Not Broken Any Records, Says Gadar Director Anil Sharma
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 has broken every box-office record in India and created a league of its own by minting 1500 crore in global ticket collections.  But filmmaker Anil Sharma has dismissed those numbers.

Sharma who helmed the blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, said that Baahubali 2 hasn’t really broken any records yet.

“It is just a matter of time. There was a a time when, in 2001, Gadar : Ek Prem Katha was released and had done a business of 265 crore, which as per today’s calculation is Rs 5,000 crore,” said the filmmaker, who is currently busy planning the Bollywood debut of his son Utkarsh Sharma.

When he was asked to explain his stand, Sharma said: “Please don’t frame me in all these things. If some good film comes, records would be broken. And as far as Bahubali 2 is concerned, it has not yet set any record. As mentioned, Gadar had done a business of Rs 265 crore in 2001 when the ticket rates were Rs 25 only. As per valuation, it is Rs 5,000 crore today and ‘Bahubali 2’ has just reached some Rs 1,500 crore, so no record has been broken.”
Well, Mr Sharma by that logic the records set by blockbusters Sholay or Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge too remain unbroken and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha too cannot lay claim to it.
