Joining the stars Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone among others is Fernandez who took up the Pad Man Challenge a while ago.
She posted a picture of herself with a pad on her social media account. She captioned the snap, “10% of girls in India think menstruation is a disease.. 14% suffer from menstrual infections... all the best team #padman @akshaykumar @sonamkapoor R Balki this is an amazing initiative!! I nominate all those girls who want to make a difference in this world!! Promote the pad!!!”
However, the words, “Promote the pad,” written with a lipstick caught attention of the netizens. They slammed the actress for wasting the pad while a few others said that she was posting the picture for publicity.

A few days ago, Twinkle Khanna too took up the challenge but was mocked by a netizen for being a hypocrite and only talking about the cause when her film is set to release. “This is an epic example of how celebrities can do anything to promote their Film. Where were you ma'am? Why this so called awareness only before your own produced movie? Hypocrisy at its best form,” wrote an Internet user. Twinkle Khanna obviously got ruffled with the tweet and gave a stern reply to the netizen in her characteristic witty style.
She wrote, “In 2015 I started writing about menstruation in my columns, 2016 I wrote about @murugaofficial in my book and 2018 I am producing Pad Man -just to bring the timeline into perspective for people who look for the negative in every initiative! #PadManTalks (sic).”
Not only Bollywood celebs, but also TV celebs like Mouni Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Aashka Goradia, Ekta Kapoor, Karan Patel and many others too took up the challenge.
