Aamir Khan starrer Secret Superstar (2017) proved to be a
huge hit at the box-office, with performances being praised by audience
and critics alike. However, did you know that Zaira Wasim was not the first
choice for the film?
It was Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s
daughter – Kaveri. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the latter revealed that
he daughter was approached for Insiya’s role.
“I’m very keen to see Kaveri in a movie. She
was offered Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar (a role which eventually went to
Zaira Wasim) but she declined the offer. I begged her to do just this
one film, but she wanted to focus on being a singer-songwriter at the
time.”
The actress also spoke about her comeback to the big
screen after 8 years. Suchitra was last seen in 2010 film Mittal V/s Mittal
alongside Gulshan Grover and Rituparna Sengupta and will next be seen in RAW:
Romeo, Akbar, Walter, also featuring John Abraham, Jackie Shroff and
Mouni Roy.

Talking about how she grabbed the role, she told the
tabloid, “I got a call from the casting director a month ago but I was leaving
for a Himalayan trek. But soon afterwards, I injured my back and was advised
not to continue the trek. Two days later, they called again and I gave my nod.
This is the first time I am working in such a big film in a commercial setup,”
she said.
Coming back to Kaveri, let’s see when do we see her
making her big splash in Bollywood.
