Salman Khan ACQUITTED in 1998 poaching cases

After a long wait of 18 years, Salman Khan has been acquitted in the Chinkara and Blackbuck poaching cases.
The actor and 7 others were accused of killing the animals -- both protected species -- in two separate incidents in September 1998, while shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan.
Salman had moved the High Court after a lower court pronounced him guilty and awarded five years’ imprisonment.
While Salman did not appear before the court, his sister Alvira Khan was present on his behalf.

Needless to say, the verdict comes as a big relief for Salman. Had he been pronounced guilty today, a warrant would have been issued and he could have been jailed.
In December 2015, the Bombay High Court had acquitted Salman in the 2002 hit-and-run case. However, the Maharashtra government opposed the verdict and has moved the Supreme Court.
