Sonam Kapoor’s 10 Years In Bollywood: Chronicling The Decade-Long Career Of The Diva

Sonam Kapoor clocks 10 years in Bollywood today. In the last decade, Sonam has managed to woo us with some exceptional work. Initially, she was more popular as a fashionista but now, fans have immense respect for her as an actor too. And that is commendable.

Sonam began her journey in Bollywood with Saawariya (2007). She was naive and innocent back then but she had an acting streak in her. It was a big deal for newcomers like Sonam and Ranbir to have bagged a role in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Though the film didn’t do seemingly well at the box-office, it opened the gates for the actress.

After Saawairya, Sonam bagged Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi-6 which was a big deal for a newcomer. The diva balanced her glam side well with films like Aisha and I Hate Luv Stories. Post that came a phase which paved way for a brighter future in Bollywood.

Sonam managed to bag a role in Raanjhanaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Talking about Raanjhana, the film was directed by Aanand L Rai and was critically acclaimed all across. The gripping love story of Sonam and Dhanush’s characters left a lasting impression on fans. With Raanjhana, Sonam proved that she could be something more than just a girl-next-door. She worked with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra yet again as she signed Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which was a huge hit!

Then came another milestone in her career when she bagged a role in Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) opposite Salman Khan. The film was, again, a huge hit at the box-office.

And now, it was time for a challenge. Sonam signed Neerja. The Ram Madhvani directorial released in 2016, was one of the biggest and most appreciated films of the year. She also received a Special Mention for her role in the film at the 64th National Film Awards.

Despite hailing from a filmy background, Sonam has had her own share of struggles. But there was absolutely no room for negativity in the actress’ life. She continued to fight her battle to prove her mettle and look how far she has come!

Currently, Sonam is shooting for her next Bollywood movie with Kareena Kapoor titled Veere Di Wedding in Bangkok. She is also going to be seen in Padman which stars Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte.

Many congratulations to the actress for her amazing journey!
