TRAILER REVIEW: Aamir Khan’s Dangal Trailer Is An Outright Winner!
What stands out in Dangal’s trailer is that Aamir Khan shares the limelight with his on-screen daughters in this one, offering us an inspiring tale of women empowerment
Aamir Khan is
back and how! The much-awaited trailer of his wrestling drama, Dangal, is out
and packs a punch. Right from the first second, it’s evident that Mr
Perfectionist, who essays the role of wrestler Mahavir Phogat in the film, has
put his blood, sweat and tears into getting the Haryanvi accent and body
transformation (from being a young wrestling champion to a father of 4 girls)
right and Mr Khan, you have hit bull’s eye.
However, what
makes this trailer an outright winner is the fact that Aamir SHARES the
limelight with his daughters -- Zaira Wasim, Suhani Bhatnagar (both child
artistes), Fatima Sana Shaikh (Geeta Phogat) and Sanya Malhotra
(Babita Kumari) in this one, offering us an inspiring tale of women
empowerment.
The story is set
in Haryana where Mahavir Phogat, a wrestler, craves for a son, who can fulfil
his unfinished dream of winning gold for the country, but destiny has other
plans and he is blessed with four daughters instead. Although he loves them
dearly, he feels that his incomplete dream can only be realised by a son. Why?
Because in Haryana, wrestling is considered only a man’s sport.
However, an
incident, where his young daughters beat up two boys because they abused them,
forces him to change his mind and then begins the tale of determination and
triumph.
Debutantes
Fatima and Sana are committed to their roles and portray their parts with
impeccable ease. The hunger in their eyes is palpable and their body language
is that of wrestler’s. Kudos!
And then, comes
the final scene where a buffed up, young Aamir is seen flexing his muscles just
before he enters the ring. We can’t wait to watch the film.
P.S -
Comparisons between Aamir’s Dangal and Salman Khan’s Sultan are
unavoidable considering both are set in Haryana and both revolve around
wrestling, but looking at the trailer we are sure this one’s going to a story
far removed from Sultan’s tale. Watch this space for as we will be back soon
