Sonu Nigam invited the wrath of several fans and netizens this morning when he went on a Twitter rant against Muslims and the Azaan call.

He concluded by saying, “Gundagardi hai bus... (sic).”

Needless to say, the volley of tweets invited severe backlash from fans. A few even compared him to Abhijeet Bhatacharya, who happens to be controversy’s favourite child, and is known for making blasphemous statements.

Recently, Sonu was in the news for collaborating with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for Cricketwali Beat as part of the cricketer’s app -- 100 MB . The app gives latest updates about the cricketer and allows his fans to break boundaries between them and Sachin. Talking about Sachin’s singing talent, Sonu had said, “He said, “Singers sing, but don’t pitch. But the master batsman was pitching it right. It was a heartening feeling. We did not have to use the pitch corrector for Sachin. He did a very good job without the pitch corrector.”

Sonu Nigam also added that people fall in three categories – talented, genius and blessed. Sachin falls in the blessed category. He revealed that he first heard Sachin sing and told the composer Shamir Tandon that Tendulkar is one to whom God has given something extraordinary. He is blessed with something divine.
