Bigg Boss 12, First Episode Review: Nothing Vichitra About The Opening Night

Get ready for some chaotic nights in your living room as Salman Khan is back with a bang with Television’s most controversial reality show, Bigg Boss. The show is in its 12th edition and this time the theme is Vichitra Jodis. The contestants have been paired up to give maximum dose of entertainment.

Last night, the show premiered on Colors TV. Most-loved host of Television world, Salman Khan, made a dashing entry dancing on his famous number, ‘Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Dun’. We had got you a glimpse of the same, a day back. The superstar was in his element and just like always did not fail to entertain with his opening act.

We also saw Bigg Boss 11 and 10 winners- Shilpa Shinde and Manveer Gurjar sitting as panel guests with a few media personalities. After Salman’s grand welcome with Bigg Band, contestants’ introduction began in the same old format.

Among celebrities, Karanvir Bohra made a smashing entry dancing on Palat from Varun Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero. Salman had a valuable tip to share with Karan and told him not to trust anyone inside the house. Second celebrity to join in was Sasural Simar Ka actress Dipika Kakar who danced with Salman on Dabangg’s famous romantic track, Tere Mast Mast Do Nain. Her hubby, Shoaib Ibrahim came to drop her and lifted Dipika in his arms till the main gate.

While these acts were the usual ones, nothing to brag about, third celebrity contestant, Neha Pendse attempted something different after her performance on Milegi Milegi from Stree. She enacted as Salman’s padosan and the duo was seen having a typical neighbour conversation. However, instead of entertainment, Neha put us through a few minutes of boredom.

Next celebrity contestant was Srishty Rode, who made an entry with Rubina Dilaik, trying to confuse everyone that she is her partner. Now, many who are a regular with Bigg Boss, obviously knew there is no surprise there and Rubina has just come to perform with Srishty. Well tried guys!

Then came the highlight of the show- Bhajan singer, Anup Jalota with his 28-year-old girlfriend, Jasleen Mathura. The lovebirds boldly accepted their love for each other and needless to say provided the most apt topic of discussion for the housemates. Do we need to say more?

And the last celebrity contestant was former Indian cricketer, S Sreesanth. If you were missing some emotional angle to the show, Sreesanth provided just that. He expressed his feelings to his wife in the most romantic way and there were many ‘awwws’ coming from the audience. Already winning hearts, S?

Talking about the commoners- there were 5 jodis among them- a singer from Bihar with a fan, an entrepreneur with his farmer friend from MP, a police officer and lawyer, Pathan sisters from Jaipur, and last Jodi created with show’s first task inside a secret room. There were four girls locked inside the secret room- Roshmi, Surbhi, Mital and Kriti. The ladies were supposed to entertain the viewers, depending on which they received public votes. Surbhi and Mital received minimum votes and then the only vichitra thing happened in the show- which was eviction in the premiere episode.

Overall, Bigg Boss 12 opening night turned out to be nothing Big. Let’s see how the season unfolds. Will it surpass the buzz last season created or will it be out of 'vichitra-ness' just like the premiere episode?
