Kasautii Zindagii Kay: This Is How Ekta Kapoor Chose Shweta Tiwari And Cezzane Khan As Prerna And Anurag
Ekta Kapoor created hysteria in 2001 with her love saga, Kasautii Zindagii Kay starring Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan. With the TV czarina all set to launch the reboot of the popular show, she reveals how she had cast Shweta and Cezzane for the lead roles
Ekta Kapoor’s reboot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay is the
much talked show currently. TV Czarina has cast Erica Fernandes and
Parth Samthaan to play the iconic characters of Prerna Sharma and Anurag
Basu in the show. Recently, during the promotions Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 in
Kolkata, Ekta had revealed how and why she chose Erica and Parth to play
main leads in the reboot. And now we know how she cast the original Shweta
and Anurag too.
Well yes, at the promotional event of Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2,
Ekta Kapoor told us exclusively how she zeroed in for Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane
Khan as the love saga’s main leads. “Shweta ko to maine Doordarshan ke ek
chhote se clip mein dekha tha where she was not even the lead. I told my
production people that ye jo Doordarshan ke show mein peeche khadi hai usse
bulao casting ke liye. And Cezzane was already doing a show for us on
Doordarshan.” Ekta told us.

We also asked her to finally end the mystery around
Komolika and also throw some light on who will be playing Rishab Bajaj. To
which, Ekta replied, “We have decided on his character till yet. In fact, in
the original series also he entered after 200 episodes Till 30 episodes nobody
knew he is an important character as he was just playing a businessman. And
then we twisted the plot. As for Komolika, I will say, it’s a mystery
(laughs).”
A few days back, Ekta had revealed the reason how Erica
and Parth bagged the roles. She had said, “I think this thing is unbelievable
and even Erica doesn’t know about it. I came for a holiday to Kolkata with 2 of
my friends, 2-3 years back. I remember somebody had put up a promo of Kuch Rang
Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi on Facebook. One of my friends and I saw the promo. And I
instantly made a call to someone and asked, ‘who’s this girl?’ They said her name
is Erica. I wanted to cast her since the day I saw her in the promo. And then I
offered her the show as soon as hers ended. As for Parth, I auditioned many
guys but none had the eyes that speak like his does. I saw his picture and cast
him.”
