Ekta Retains No.1 Spot With Naagin 2, Kapil Sharma Moves Up To No.3
Your weekly dope on the ongoing TV shows. Naagin 2 continues its dream run while Priyanka Chopra propels the ratings of The Kapil Sharma Show
The first week of the New Year has brought some good news
for Kapil Sharma. Sony’s The Kapil Sharma Show, which was at No. 4 for the last
3 weeks moved up a notch and stood at No. 3 in Week 1, 2017 (December 30-
January 5). While December 31 (2016) saw anchor Shweta Singh make an
appearance, January 1 (2017) had Priyanka Chopra. Needless to say that PeeCee’s
appearance is one of the reasons which propelled the comedy show’s ratings.

Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin 2 (Colors) continued its dream run
in the New Year and acquired the top slot yet again. Barring a couple of weeks,
Naagin 2 has been the most-watched show ever since it premiered on October
8 last year.

Further, Colors’ Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki registered
a drop in its ratings and slipped from No. 2 in Week 52 to No. 4 in Week 1. We
assume the snail-paced track is responsible for the audience’s lost interest.

Another show which is dealing with the consequences of a
slow track is Kumkum Bhagya, featuring Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia in lead
roles. The Zee TV show desperately needs a twist in the tale if it aspires to
feature in the top 10.

Karmphal Data Shani, which until now has remained at the
bottom of the barrel moved up the leaderboard and acquired the 7th spot,
cementing the notion, although slowly, mythological shows will always strike a
chord with the audience.

Making an entry into the Top 10 list is Colors’
Kasam-Tere Pyaar Ki starring Ssharad Malhotra and Kratika Sengar. With Rishi
(Ssharad) revealing Malaika’s (Smriti Khanna) evil side and reuniting with
wife, Tanuja (Kratika Sengar), we aren’t surprised that the show got the
viewers hooked.
