Viewers Choose Kapil Sharma Over Salman Khan, Naagin 2 Loses No.1 Spot To Shakti

Your weekly dope on the ongoing TV shows

We are back with the results of Week 44 (October 28- November 3) which has changed the leader board, yet again. In an interesting turn of events, Colors show Shakti- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki beat Mouni Roy’s Naagin 2 to clinch the top spot in the said week. It’s quite a shocker because Naagin 2 has been the audience’s favourite ever since it premiered on October 11.

However, what surprised us the most was that The Kapil Sharma Show, which was under performing for the last couple of weeks (it was at number 7 in Week 43 and lost out on top 10 in week 42) has got back in the game and stood at number 3 in Week 44. So much so that audiences preferred watching Kapil Sharma over Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 10. The reality show’s dismal performance should be a clarion call to the makers. It stood at number 19 in Week 43 and dropped further in Week 44 to acquire position 22.

Coming back to The Kapil Sharma Show, guess Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s envy-inducing chemistry worked wonders for the show. While October 29th’s (Saturday) episode saw Ajay Devgn and Kajol make an appearance, October 30 (Sunday) had Ajay along with cast of Shivaay – debutantes Sayyeshaa Saigal, Erika Kaar, Abigail Eames – in attendance. No prizes for guessing that Saturday’s episode registered a higher viewership.

Further, another poor performer in Week 44 was Star Plus’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. For the past 3 weeks, the show featuring Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel managed to stay in the top 5, but the monotony of the ongoing plot seems to have got the audience disconnected.

Looks like Ekta Kapoor has been devoting all her energy to one show. It’s high time that a balance is maintained when she comes back from her Australian holiday.

Making a surprise entry in the list of top 10 shows is Colors’s show, Kasam. The romantic drama has suddenly piqued the audience’s interest (it has not featured in the top 10 shows for a while now). Reason? Rishi (Sharad Malhotra) and Tanu (Kratika Sengar) are all set to get married. Audiences will never get tired of ‘happily ever afters’.
