Actor Vivek Sinha has responded to the backlash surrounding a controversial dialogue from Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which sparked outrage among a section of viewers online. The line, delivered by his character Zahoor Mistry in the trailer — “Hindu waqai darpok qaum hai” — quickly went viral and was labelled “anti-Hindu” by some social media users.

Addressing the criticism, Sinha clarified that the dialogue belongs to a fictional character and does not reflect his personal beliefs. He revealed that he even received direct messages questioning his faith and accusing him of speaking against Hindus for money. Recalling one such message, he said, “A few days ago, I got a message on Instagram which read, ‘You should be ashamed of being a Hindu and for a small amount of money, you are saying this for a Hindu’.”

Responding to the outrage, the actor defended his role and highlighted the importance of portraying characters realistically in cinema. He explained, “Films are a mirror of the society. We show what kind of characters are there. So, if a terrorist from Pakistan has entered India… we will have to show that.”

Sinha further questioned the expectations of critics, adding, “If we want to show such kind of a person, should we call a terrorist from Pakistan to play the role? We will only have to do that and act that ways.”

The actor also urged audiences to differentiate between an actor and the character portrayed on screen, emphasizing that Zahoor Mistry is purely fictional. Despite the ongoing controversy, the film continues to perform strongly at the box office, crossing ₹1,350 crore worldwide.
