Veteran actress Neena Gupta has once again proved why she is admired for her fearless attitude and unapologetic personality. Known for speaking her mind and carrying herself with confidence, the actress recently gave a bold yet graceful reply to a troll who attempted to shame her for wearing a short dress.
The incident began when Neena shared a video on her official Instagram handle from the airport. In the clip, she was seen enjoying a simple meal — a roti roll — while dressed in a casual blue mini dress. She captioned the post, “Shorts wali desi girl.” While the word “shorts” referred to her chic western outfit, the phrase “desi girl” highlighted her love for Indian food, as she also mentioned preferring home-cooked meals over outside options.
While most of her fans showered love on the post and appreciated her candidness, one user chose to leave a distasteful remark about her outfit. The comment read, “Very good … only request don’t show your legs, they are not well-toned. We have never seen dadi mummy showing their legs this way. Ageing gracefully is excellent.”
The comment sparked reactions from other users, with many calling it out as body-shaming. One netizen strongly responded, saying, “What a demeaning comment from another WOMAN. Congratulations for being such a body shamer and being part of the problem.”
Neena herself did not stay silent and replied with wit and confidence. She wrote, “Don’t worry. These people who talk like this are basically jealous that they don’t have such good body, so ignore.” Her response not only silenced the troll but also reinforced why she continues to be a role model for many women across generations.
Neena Gupta has always been admired for breaking stereotypes, whether it is through her bold personal choices or her experimental fashion sense. She regularly shares glimpses of her life in chic outfits, proving that age is just a number.
On the work front, Neena was last seen in Anurag Basu’s ensemble film Metro In Dino, co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sensharma.
