Veteran Bollywood actor Bharat Kapoor passed away at the age of 80 on April 27 in Mumbai, leaving behind a legacy spanning films, television, and theatre. The actor reportedly died due to cardiac arrest after being unwell for the past three days.

According to his close friend and actor Avatar Gill, Kapoor breathed his last around 3 pm. Sharing details of his passing, Gill said, “I got a call from Bharat ji’s son Rahul saying that his father passed away around 3:00 pm due to cardiac arrest at his residence. He was unwell for three days.”

Kapoor’s last rites were performed the same evening at a crematorium near Sion Hospital in Mumbai in the presence of his family members and close friends from the industry. His demise has left the film fraternity mourning the loss of a seasoned performer known for his impactful supporting and negative roles.

The actor had a long and notable career, appearing in films such as Hindustan Ki Kasam, Sone Pe Suhaaga, and Balidaan, along with several other projects across decades. He was particularly recognised for his strong screen presence and distinctive voice, which made him a natural fit for character roles in Hindi cinema.

Meanwhile, the chautha ceremony of the late actor will be held on April 30 at the North Bombay Association in Mumbai, where family, friends, and members of the industry are expected to gather and pay their final respects.

Kapoor is survived by his wife Lopa and sons Rahul and Sagar. His daughter Kavita had passed away a few years ago.
