Who says that the Censor Board's decision to clamp down on sex, violence and foul language in films has taken a backseat?

A few days ago, there was a report that Anushka Sharma's maiden production NH10 had been granted an 'A' certificate by the Revising Committee but got away  with only few cuts. Then, a report appeared that the film has nine cuts.

Neither of them was right. SpotboyE.com now brings you the exact number of the cuts in NH10. Fourteen! Yes, you read it right. Fourteen!

And there's more- the certificate was granted only today. A source from the Censor Board reveals, The Censor Board office was kept especially open for NH 10 today. Any further delay would have hampered the film's release which is slated for March 13."

Adds the source, "We removed all the Hindi expletives. We also chucked out the gory part. The English cuss words have not been tampered much as they were in sync with the story."

The film's director Navdeep Singh now has to re-dub the film in the cut-out portions, since muting of words is not allowed any more.

We were the first to report (February 10) that NH10 would run into a big problem with the Censor Board, when the film's trailer had gone viral.

And prior to that in an exclusive interview to SpotboyE.com (January 27), Pahlaj had clearly hinted that he will not bend:

SpotboyE.com: What is this policy of 'no cuss words' which you are implementing?
Nihalani: Cuss words are never supposed to make it to the movies. I don't know how they became so rampant in our films. Why are we hell bent on showing foul language in cinema which is a widely travelling medium? Is it necessary for millions of people to know that a certain sect of people in our country utter abuses indiscriminately?

SpotboyE.com: Some filmmakers believe that certain subjects become dilute otherwise...
Nihalani: Rubbish. Gaali dene se you drive your point home, else you can't? Did Guru Dutt and Yash Chopra need expletives in their films to say what they want to? Do I need to tell you which movies Hrishikesh Mukherjee made and what was their success rate?

Adds the source, "This week, Marathi film Ek Do Teen Char was given 20 cuts. Words like sa**a, bh***a and fa***gi were deleted. Normally, such words are never cut from a Marathi film."

So those who thought that the new Censor Board Chief Pahlaj Nihalani will now be compelled to go slow after the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore reportedly shot down his order banning use of certain cuss words and expressions in films, this one was for you!

Referring to the meeting which few filmmakers had with Rathore recently, the source says, "Nothing has come to us from Rathore  in writing. So we stand where we were."

NH10 is based on a young couple Neil Bhoopalam and Anushka whose road trip goes awry after an encounter with a group of violent criminals.
