Ajay Devgn has time and again proven his versatility as an actor. Last night, the star took to Twitter to unveil the poster of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. “He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare (sic),” he wrote alongside the poster of the film.
Ajay will be seen essaying the role of Subedar Taanaji Malusare, who fought alongside Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj. He was one of Shivaji's closest friends, hailing from the Malusare clan and the two had known each other since childhood. According to legend, he received the summons while at his son's wedding, and immediately left the festivities.
Baadshaho’s trailer was attached with
Salman Khan’s Tubelight and now will also be attached with
Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal.
The star cast of the film underwent several changes since the project was announced. While
Shruti Haasan was initially roped in to play one of the female leads, the actress opted out of the movie. It was reported that she found the final script too intense for her liking.
The film is set against the backdrop of 1975 Emergency and will hit theatres on September 1.
Coming back to the poster of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, the film should be an interesting watch. What do you think?
