This morning we woke up to the sad news of philanthropist and socialite Parmeshwar Godrej passing away at Breach Candy Hospital last night (http://www.spotboye.com/bollywood/news/philanthropist-friend-of-several-bollywood-celebs-parmeshwar-godrej-passes-away/57fc7b0a63f6ab89473df99a). Close friend and Pakistani politician Imran Khan was the first one to tweet about the news. As information spread in Bollywood, many celebs took to Twitter to express their condolences. Filmmaker Karan Johar wrote, “She is LIFE..will never put a ‘was’ with her name..her energy is infectious..her heart is solid and her aura is forever..I love you Parmesh (sic).”

Parmeshwar shared a great rapport with many Bollywood stars, Karan being one of them. 

She has been active in spreading awareness about AIDS in India, for which she is very well known. Godrej had been working through the Heroes Project- an initiative launched by Hollywood actor Richard Gere in 2004. Parmeshwar’s initiative had also garnered support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Parmeshwar has worked as an air hostess for Air India, before she was married to her entrepreneur husband Adi Godrej.
