Often hailed as an institution of acting, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has built a career on versatility, seamlessly moving between intense dramas, indie gems, thrillers, and commercial entertainers. Known for his remarkable range and ability to disappear into every character he portrays, the actor has consistently chosen substance over scale. His latest release, Main Actor Nahin Hoon, has been earning appreciation from audiences and has reportedly collected ₹4.15 crore in just 14 days despite being made on a modest budget. The film's performance is yet another reminder that compelling storytelling and a powerhouse performance can often triumph over scale and star-driven spectacle. Nawazuddin's commitment to meaningful cinema remains as unwavering as ever.
Talking about the same, Nawazuddin Siddiqui revealed that he did not take any fee for Main Actor Nahin Hoon, just as he had previously chosen not to charge for Manto. Explaining his decision, the actor said, “Of course, money is important. I’m not denying that. But if money becomes the only thing guiding your decisions as an actor, then your passion begins to suffer somewhere.”
The actor further shared that financial gain was never the reason he entered the film industry. “I never entered films thinking I would become rich through acting. If earning money was my only goal, I could have done something else entirely. In fact, I didn’t take any money for this film and even for Manto,” he said. Nawazuddin added that he strongly believed Main Actor Nahin Hoon deserved to be made and seen by audiences, irrespective of its scale or commercial prospects.
Reflecting on his experience working on Main Actor Nahin Hoon, Nawazuddin revealed that the project brought him back to his roots as a performer. “It may release on only 50 or 60 screens, with limited shows, but while shooting it, I genuinely enjoyed myself as an actor. It reminded me of theatre days: experimental, honest, and free,” he shared. His words further underline why he continues to be regarded as one of the most respected performers in Indian cinema, prioritising the craft above everything else.
Meanwhile, following the success of Main Actor Nahin Hoon, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is gearing up for another highly anticipated project, Tumbbad 2. The sequel to the cult-favourite film is currently in development, with production expected to begin soon. As audiences look forward to seeing him in a new chapter of the beloved franchise, Nawazuddin continues to cement his legacy as an actor who consistently chooses stories that challenge both himself and the audience.
