Veteran actor Prakash Raj has officially confirmed that he has joined the cast of Drishyam 3, the highly anticipated third installment of the crime-thriller franchise starring Ajay Devgn. The update comes after considerable buzz surrounding changes in the film’s lineup following Akshaye Khanna’s unexpected exit from the project.
Prakash Raj took to social media to share the news of his involvement and to clear up speculation about his role. In a post on his X account, he wrote that he has “started shooting for this engaging franchise #Drishyam3 in Hindi,” expressing excitement about working with the team and playing what he described as a “scintillating role.” To address the swirling rumours directly, he added, “I’m sure you will love it. (And yes, I’m not replacing anyone…).”
The buzz around Drishyam 3 has only grown since Dhurandhar’s success, but it was disrupted when Akshaye Khanna pulled out of the film just days before shooting was set to begin. The producer Kumar Mangat Pathak later confirmed Khanna’s departure, sharing that it occurred a day before the release of Dhurandhar and followed multiple renegotiations over his fees and creative inputs.
Despite the high-profile exit, the makers are moving forward with production. Apart from Ajay Devgn and Prakash Raj, the cast includes Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor, and the film continues to generate excitement among fans of the franchise. Drishyam 3 is slated for release on October 2, 2026, with Abhishek Pathak back in the director’s chair.
