Veteran actor Prem Chopra recently shared his thoughts on Dhurandhar, expressing admiration for the film while also offering a measured critique. He said he was genuinely impressed by Ranveer Singh’s performance, calling it powerful and engaging, and acknowledged the overall effort put in by the makers. However, he also felt that certain aspects of the film could have been handled differently.
Speaking about the changing landscape of Hindi cinema, Prem Chopra pointed out how storytelling has evolved over the years. Comparing today’s films with those from the eras of legends like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan, he noted that cinema has shifted from emotionally driven narratives to more intense, high-octane storytelling. According to him, this transformation is largely influenced by prevailing trends and audience preferences, adding, “It’s a trend that people follow.”
While he appreciated Dhurandhar as a well-made film, Chopra mentioned that he found it a bit too lengthy and felt the makers could have exercised restraint in certain areas. In particular, he suggested that the film could have benefited from toning down its use of abuse and violence. Despite this, he made it clear that his feedback comes from a place of experience and observation, rather than criticism alone.
Chopra also praised other performances in the film, including Akshaye Khanna, highlighting the strong acting across the cast. He emphasized that every era of cinema reflects its own sensibilities, concluding that films today are simply a product of current tastes and storytelling trends.
Overall, while Prem Chopra was impressed with Dhurandhar and its performances, he believes a more balanced approach—especially regarding explicit content—could have made the film even better.
