Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has responded to rumours claiming that the script of director Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar was written or influenced by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The actor, who received widespread appreciation for playing Jameel Jamali in the film, dismissed the speculation and said such claims are completely unfounded.
Speaking at a recent event, Bedi reflected on the overwhelming success of Dhurandhar and the kind of reactions the film has generated among audiences. Addressing the viral claims surrounding the screenplay, he said that after the movie became a massive hit, some people started jokingly suggesting that the script must have come directly from the PMO. However, Bedi made it clear that there was no truth to such speculation and added that he could not even imagine something like that happening.
The actor also opened up about his experience working with filmmaker Aditya Dhar. Bedi revealed that while developing his character, Dhar initially chose not to reveal every detail about the role, particularly certain suspense elements. According to him, the director wanted the mystery surrounding the character to remain intact during the creative process.
Bedi further shared that he actively contributed ideas to make his character more engaging. He suggested adding a few humorous moments to the film, though Dhar was initially hesitant because he wanted to maintain the serious tone of the narrative. Eventually, some of those suggestions found their way into the final version and helped add depth to the character.
The actor praised Dhar’s vision and storytelling abilities, crediting the director for creating a film that connected strongly with audiences. He noted that the appreciation coming from viewers has been immense and that the response to both the film and his character has been extremely encouraging. Despite the rumours circulating online, Bedi maintained that the success of Dhurandhar is the result of the team’s hard work, creative collaboration, and Aditya Dhar’s filmmaking skills.
