In a significant development in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, actress Rhea Chakraborty has received major relief after a Mumbai court ordered the defreezing of her bank accounts. The accounts, along with those of her brother Showik Chakraborty and mother Sandhya Chakraborty, had been frozen by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) during its investigation into the alleged drug angle linked to the 2020 case.

The special NDPS court ruled that the NCB failed to follow mandatory legal procedures while freezing the accounts. It noted that the agency did not comply with provisions under the NDPS Act, including obtaining timely confirmation for the action. Due to this procedural lapse, the court found the freezing of accounts invalid and allowed them to be operated again.

The bank accounts had originally been frozen when the NCB began probing a suspected drug network in Bollywood following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June 2020. Rhea Chakraborty and her family were among those investigated during this period.

Rhea and her family had approached the court seeking access to their funds, arguing that the freezing order was not legally sustainable. After reviewing the case, the court agreed that due process had not been properly followed by the investigating agency.

This order comes as a major relief for the actress, who has faced prolonged legal scrutiny since 2020. With the accounts now defreezed, she and her family will regain access to their financial assets, marking another step forward in the long-running case.
