You Wore WHAT!?

Diwali is the festival of lights and the ladies of Bollywood certainly went light. While some chose to wear bright colours, a few others picked lighter shades or paired darker shades with lighter ones so as not to overdo things.

Katrina Kaif rocked Anil Kapoor and the Bachchans' Diwali bashes in a beige Sabyasachi net sari with light blue thrown in. Normally a combination like this would look washed out, but on Katrina, it only makes her glow. To add some zing, she paired the sari with a glittery blouse.

If it was any other colour, Jacqueline Fernandez' lehenga-choli would have seemed gaudy because of the heavy embellishments, but the light hue helps the work stand out without the overall look being too jarring.

Sonam Kapoor tried something different and failed miserably. She attempted to offset the white Anamika Khanna sari with tons of jewellery and it just does not work. After Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, maybe she thinks that it's alright to be this blinged out in real life too.

Sonam chose bling over colour while attending Shilpa Shetty's Diwali party, but she did not fare any better here either.

A great example of the dark-light pairing is Alia Bhatt's look. Her bright brocade blouse is the highlight and that's because her lehenga and dupatta are light. It's not genius, but it's beautiful.

Athiya Shetty too chose pastels as her Diwali look and she rocked it... you know, in a subtle way. She kept things simple with her accessories too - a maang tikka was her statement piece.

Mira Rajput did not need colour to shine this Diwali. A light blue Anita Dongre sari and her hot husband was all she needed.

For Ekta Kapoor's bash, Ankita Lokhande chose a light pink ensemble which lost its purpose of being subtle, because she ended up looking like a pink disco ball. And what's up with that hair band?
