“Mother is back.” That’s exactly how many desi fans feel now, as Bollywood’s ramp queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a triumphant return to Paris, opening the L’Oréal Paris show at Paris Fashion Week. The global brand ambassador reminded the world why she remains a fashion icon — with a walk that sent the internet into collective meltdown.
For this spectacular showcase, Aishwarya donned a custom indigo sherwani-inspired ensemble by Indian ace designer Manish Malhotra. The outfit masterfully merged Indian heritage with global haute couture. According to Malhotra, the sherwani jacket featured a raised bandhgala collar, a split neckline, diamond-studded buttons, padded shoulders, and a body-sculpting silhouette. It boasted dramatic 10-inch diamond-embroidered cuffs and cascading scalloped layers of diamonds down the back like an ornate necklace. To heighten the extravagance, diamond-studded animal brooches were also incorporated.
She paired the jacket with matching flared pants, sleek high heels, diamond rings, and delicate ear studs. Her makeup was flawless: bold eyeliner, glowing contour, blushed cheeks, and her signature red lip. Hair was styled in soft waves with a side part, elegantly framing her face.
As dazzling as the outfit was, it was Aishwarya’s iconic walk that truly captivated audiences. Her confident stride, the “bend-and-snap,” graceful namaste, and signature kiss-and-wave felt like a resurgence of her Miss World days. Fashion critic Diet Sabya posted:

Desi fans flooded social media with praise. One wrote, “Look at the walk! The way she opened it. This exactly was her walk during her Miss World days — PRIDE OF INDIA.” Another exclaimed, “Okay the face!! The walk! The confidence!!” One fan added, “The blowing of the kiss and her iconic wave! She knows we don’t get to see a SUPERSTAR often.” Actors Bhumi Pednekar and Neha Dhupia also joined the chorus, declaring, “Queeeeen.”
