The groundbreaking drama series 'The L Word' is back with a sequel titled 'The L Word: Generation Q' and it premiered on December 8, 2019. Those of you who have watched 'The L World' series that premieres in 2004, know that it shocked many and was deemed ahead of its time by a lot of people for openly portraying lesbian sex, and also addressing other social political issues like the Defense of Marriage Act. Now, the show is back with its highly awaited sequel ''The L Word: Generation Q', and this one, promises to be more progressive than its original series.

The opening scene itself created an impact and put a stamp on the fact that the show is here to break sexual taboos and is unlike other television shows that air currently. Within its first 30 seconds, it showed two women having sex, while one of them is on their period. With deep-seated taboos around menstrual impurity, let alone period sex,The L Word: Generation Q  attempts at dismantling the stigma around period sex. The opening scene shows Dani Nunez (Arienne Mandi) and Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) engaging in cunnillingus while the latter is on her period. If this is just the beginning, we can't wait to see what other topics they touch and portray on screen.

While the original series,, 'The L Word' did address some important issues, it was also criticized for its transphobia, biphobia and other issues. Hopefully, this sequel will be much more progressive and can evoke more conversations about important issues. The L Word: Generation Q also stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey and they will resume their original roles.
