Indraneil Sengupta, who was last seen in Nimki Mukhiya, is all set to make his digital debut with the upcoming web series Tadap. In an exclusive conversation with SpotboyE.com, the actor opened up about his character and explained why he agreed to shoot a romantic sequence for the series despite having avoided such scenes in the past.

Talking about his role, Indraneil said, "I can't reveal many details about the series. All I can say is that I am playing a successful businessman who is separated from his wife and has a daughter. He wanted to file a case, which is why he sought help from his friend who owns a law firm. That's where he meets Shiny Dixit's character."

Indraneil has also filmed a romantic sequence with Shiny Dixit. Asked whether he was comfortable shooting the scene, the actor explained that he considers the context and requirements of a story before agreeing to such sequences.

"Principally, I am not really very comfortable doing intimate scenes. That's why I have always avoided them in the past. If the purpose of the scene is just to make it look hot, then I don't think it is justified. I feel if a certain story needs to be told in a certain way where an intimate scene becomes an important part, like if you are showing the relationship between two people which is rooted in physicality, then we cannot avoid doing such scenes," he said.

Elaborating on how storytelling has evolved over the years, Indraneil added, "Nowadays, storytelling is more open and liberal when it comes to physicality, so as an actor, it's my duty to adapt to the times and do my job. I cannot have a mind block towards things when it becomes a general approach."

The actor further explained that his perspective as a performer has changed with time.

"If you had asked me 20 years back whether I was comfortable doing intimate scenes or not, my answer would have been different because, at that time, it was not a general approach. Today, it's part of storytelling. If I become stubborn at this time and strictly say no to intimate scenes, I feel it would be professionally wrong," he said.

However, Indraneil stressed that every actor needs to establish personal boundaries while choosing a role.

"But that doesn't mean I keep on doing intimate scenes," he added with a laugh. "If intimacy is part of the role but there is extreme nudity, I would not be okay doing it. You need to draw your own line. I also feel completely blocking yourself is not the right thing professionally at this point in time."

Speaking specifically about Tadap, Indraneil concluded, "The romantic sequence in Tadap was justified, and we have shot it in an elegant and aesthetic way."

With Tadap, Indraneil Sengupta will explore the digital entertainment space while taking on a character that is different from some of his previous television roles.
