South superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has now found himself at the receiving end of criticism, all thanks to the recent controversial statement he made on music maestro AR Rahman. Apparently, in an interview with TV9, Balakrishna claimed he doesn’t know who Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is and that he doesn't even care about his achievements. A short clip of his statement found its way to the internet where Balakrishna said, ‘I don’t know who Rahman is. I don’t care. Once in a decade, he gives a hit and gets an Oscar award.’
This obviously didn’t go down well with Rahman fans. After the video went viral, fans started bashing him and dropped some mean comments under the post. A fan said, "What a tragedy!! #ARRahman is a global icon & this guy who's a fool is talking about him #Mental” while another one commented, “Born to spoil is DAD good name.. #whoisbalakrishna this head weight attitude is the biggest reason for people to hate him.. funniest part is he is MLA”
There was another one who heaped praises on the music composer: “A.R.Rahman, even after he lost his father in his young age continued to work hard got an Oscar and got popular worldwide unlike him who is getting chances from his father's and political background, The whole world knows A.R.but nobody knows about him beyond his own state.”

Meanwhile, some Balakrishna fans came to his support and claimed that he was actually comparing Rahman with another music genius Illayaraja who composed Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein album. They asked to watch the entire interview before making any conclusions.
