The controversy surrounding the viral “₹370 Biryani” remark has taken another legal turn, with Gurugram Police registering a case against stand-up comedian Pranit More and audience member Himanshu Jangra. The action comes after a clip from More’s comedy show sparked widespread outrage on social media and drew attention from several authorities.

The row began after a video from a crowd-work segment at a comedy show in Gurugram went viral online. During the interaction, Jangra narrated an incident involving a date where he spent ₹370 on a plate of chicken biryani. He allegedly suggested that the amount spent entitled him to physical intimacy, a remark that many social media users condemned as offensive and insensitive toward issues of consent.

The clip quickly triggered backlash, with critics accusing More of encouraging or normalising the statement by laughing and engaging with the conversation during the performance. As the video spread across digital platforms, calls for action against both individuals intensified.

Prior to the Gurugram case, Maharashtra Cyber Police had already registered an FIR against More, Jangra, and others over the circulation of allegedly objectionable content linked to the incident. Authorities stated that the material contained remarks concerning women and consent that could violate public decency and legal provisions.

The matter also caught the attention of the National Commission for Women (NCW), which summoned both More and Jangra and sought a report from Haryana Police. Meanwhile, both individuals have issued public apologies following the controversy, with More admitting that he should have handled the situation differently and Jangra facing severe public criticism after the video surfaced online.
