Babil Khan, son of late actor Irrfan Khan, made his first public appearance in five months at Mumbai’s airport, following the storm caused by his emotionally charged video. In that clip, he had lambasted Bollywood as “fake and fu*ked,” and called out names like Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav.
On this recent outing, Babil wore a colourful jacket and greeted the paparazzi, even posing for pictures. However, observers noted a change in his demeanour—he appeared subdued compared to his usual cheerful self, who often engaged in back-and-forth banter with the press.
Back in May, Babil had shared—and then deleted—a string of emotional Instagram stories. In them, he named several actors and bluntly stated: “There are people like Shanaya Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arijit Singh … Bollywood is so fu*ked. Bollywood is so screwed.” Following the backlash, he also deactivated his Instagram.
He later resurfaced on Instagram to offer clarification, saying, “The video was extremely misinterpreted. I was trying to show support to Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, Raghav Juyal and Arijit Singh.”
Soon after the viral episode, Babil withdrew from a film with Sai Rajesh. He released a statement: “With a lot of grit, passion, and mutual respect, Sai Rajesh sir and I both got along in this journey of creating magic together. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances things didn’t go ahead as everyone had planned.” He added that he would be taking time off, with hopes of collaborating again in the future.
