Bhojpuri singer Devi, widely known as “Mallika of Sur,” has chosen single motherhood and welcomed a baby boy. She delivered via C-section at AIIMS Rishikesh and shared the joyful news, including the first glimpse of her newborn, on social media.

Devi conceived her child using IVF in Germany. Her father, Pramod Kumar, revealed that she had attempted IVF seven years ago without success, but that this time her hope was fulfilled. Reports confirm that both Devi and her son are safe and doing well.

On Instagram, Devi posted a video of her son with the caption, “Mera babu hai,”—a tender moment that has been met with loving messages and congratulations from her fans.

Her decision to become a mother without being married has drawn praise for challenging societal norms, and many have found her journey inspiring.

For context, Devi hails from Chhapra and rose to prominence through Bhojpuri folk music. She has released over 50 albums and is known for avoiding vulgarity in her music. Besides Bhojpuri, she has sung in Hindi, Maithili, and Magahi. Some of her popular songs include “Piya Gaile Kalkatwa Ae Sajni,” “Dil Tujhe Pukare Aaja,” “Aile More Raja,” “O Gori Chhori-Chhori,” and “Pardesia-Pardesia.”

Her announcement parallels that of Kannada actress Bhavana Ramanna, who also opted for IVF in her 40s. Ramanna gave birth to twin girls in August 2025, though tragically only one survived.
