A tragic incident unfolded in Hyderabad on Monday during the opening day screening of the much-anticipated Telugu film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring megastar Chiranjeevi. A passionate fan collapsed and died while watching the movie at Arjun Theatre in the Kukatpally area of the city.
According to initial reports, the deceased has been identified as Anand Kumar, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from the 12th Battalion. He had come to the theatre to watch the 11:30 AM show of the film, which released to audiences that morning. Midway through the screening, Kumar suddenly slumped in his seat, prompting immediate concern among fellow viewers and theatre staff.
The theatre team quickly alerted the police and emergency services. Kumar was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors later pronounced him dead. Officials are currently of the view that he suffered a cardiac arrest, though the precise cause of death will only be confirmed after a formal medical examination and post-mortem.
The sudden loss stunned onlookers, many of whom had gathered to enjoy the festive release of the film. Audiences expressed their shock at witnessing such a devastating event at what was meant to be a routine movie outing. Police have registered the case and are conducting further investigations to understand the full circumstances surrounding Kumar’s death.
