Kannada television actress Kavya Gowda’s husband, Somasekhar, was admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru after being allegedly stabbed during a family dispute at their home, according to a First Information Report (FIR) filed with the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station. The incident reportedly occurred on Republic Day, January 26, when a disagreement among relatives escalated into a violent confrontation.
The FIR was lodged by Kavya’s sister, Bhavya Gowda, on behalf of the couple. It names several family members, including Somasekhar’s brother Nandish, sister-in-law Prema, Prema’s father Ravikumar, and another woman identified as Priya. According to the complaint, the group allegedly restrained and physically assaulted both Kavya and Somasekhar during the altercation. It was during this scuffle that Somasekhar was reportedly stabbed with a knife, leading to his hospitalization. Kavya was also hurt in the incident and received treatment.
In the FIR, Bhavya stated that Kavya had repeatedly called her during the dispute, expressing fear and saying that both she and her husband were under threat inside their home. The complaint also mentions that threats were made to their lives during the confrontation. Police have registered a case and begun a detailed investigation to establish what exactly happened, examining medical reports, CCTV footage, witness accounts and statements from both sides. Counter-complaints have also been filed in connection with the incident.
Speaking to the media, Kavya demanded strict action against those named in the FIR, stating, “I am not someone who seeks publicity over trivial issues. My husband was stabbed, and I was assaulted. This should be punished according to the law. I want justice.” She also said surveillance footage from the residence would clarify the circumstances around the clash.
Kavya Gowda is known for her work in popular Kannada TV serials like Radha Ramana and Gandhari. Until this event, she had largely maintained a private personal life.
