Actor Saumya Tandon, widely recognised for her roles in Dhurandhar and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, faced an unexpected hurdle while trying to vote in the Mumbai BMC elections on January 15, 2026. Despite checking her voter details online well ahead of time, she discovered that her name was missing from the voter list at multiple polling stations, which forced her to visit different booths in search of the correct location.
Saumya explained to news agency ANI that the confusion began after she verified her booth information on the official portal and followed the directions provided there. However, upon reaching the designated spot, she was told to go elsewhere, even though she had digital confirmation of her details.
“I actually went out to vote, and I checked online. There was a booth at the bottom of my house where people were sitting to help me, to tell me about the booth or the place. They told me that I had to come to this location,” she said.
Saumya added that she had even taken screenshots of her online voting details, but the information did not match what officials told her on the ground. “I took a screenshot online, but when I came here, they are now sending me to some other location because they are saying that your location is showing somewhere else online,” she explained.
She also recalled being directed initially to Dalmia College, only to be redirected again upon arrival, intensifying her frustration about the inconsistent instructions.
Despite these setbacks, Saumya emphasised her determination to exercise her democratic right. Smiling, she said, “Yes, of course. I want to vote. This is my right, and this is my duty. So I have to vote. I have to vote.” She also mentioned that she had skipped her shoot commitments to participate in the civic poll, but was unsure whether her name was ultimately on the list.
