Actor-politician and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has travelled to Mumbai to undergo medical evaluation and treatment for a long-standing shoulder injury at the renowned Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
According to reports, Pawan has been experiencing severe discomfort due to a rotator cuff injury, with muscle tears in both shoulders. The actor, who has remained actively involved in political commitments and public engagements over the past few years, reportedly sought specialised medical attention after the condition persisted despite earlier treatment. This marks another health-related procedure for Pawan in recent months. Earlier this year, he underwent nasal surgery in Hyderabad. While he recovered from that procedure, the shoulder issue continued to trouble him, prompting doctors to recommend a comprehensive medical examination in Mumbai.
Reports state that Pawan arrived in Mumbai accompanied by his wife, Anna Lezhneva. He is currently undergoing detailed medical assessments, after which doctors will decide the most suitable course of treatment. The hospital, one of India's leading multi-speciality medical centres, is expected to oversee his recovery process.
The injury is believed to have developed over time due to the intense physical strain Pawan endured during political campaigns and public appearances, where he was frequently surrounded by large crowds of supporters. The repeated pushing and pulling during such events is said to have aggravated his shoulder condition.
A later update suggested that doctors have advised immediate shoulder surgery after detecting significant damage to the rotator cuff and surrounding muscles. However, Pawan has reportedly chosen to postpone the procedure until he completes his pending official responsibilities as Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister. He is expected to undergo surgery after fulfilling his administrative commitments, following which he will require a period of rest and rehabilitation.
