The Bombay High Court on Wednesday suggested that Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse neighbour, Ketan Kakkad, consider deleting certain social media posts made against the actor, while hearing a long-running defamation dispute between the two. The court’s observation came during proceedings related to Khan’s appeal seeking relief against allegedly defamatory content published online by Kakkad.
The dispute dates back several years and revolves around videos, social media posts and public statements made by Kakkad concerning Khan and activities allegedly linked to the actor’s farmhouse property in Panvel. Salman had earlier approached the courts claiming that the content shared by his neighbour was defamatory, damaging to his reputation, and aimed at maligning his image in the public eye.
During the latest hearing, the High Court reportedly encouraged Kakkad to reflect on whether some of the contentious posts should remain online. The court’s remarks were viewed as an attempt to explore an amicable resolution to the matter rather than prolonging litigation. However, no final order directing the removal of the posts was passed at this stage.
Salman Khan has consistently maintained that several statements and videos circulated by Kakkad contain false and defamatory allegations. The actor had previously sought directions to remove such content and restrain further publication of similar material. His legal team has argued that the posts go beyond fair criticism and have the potential to harm his reputation.
On the other hand, Kakkad has defended his actions in court, claiming that his statements were based on issues concerning property-related disputes and matters he believed were in the public interest. He has opposed the actor’s attempts to restrict his speech and has contested the allegations of defamation.
The matter remains pending before the Bombay High Court. The court is expected to continue hearing submissions from both sides before deciding on the reliefs sought by Salman Khan in the defamation case.
