Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on the morning of February 17 after experiencing a sudden health issue, according to multiple reports. The 90-year-old, widely regarded for his influential contributions to Hindi cinema as one-half of the legendary Salim–Javed writing duo, was brought in by his family doctor and admitted to the ICU for urgent care.

Hospital officials, including Dr. Jalil Parkar, confirmed that Salim Khan arrived at the emergency department at 8:30 am and was later shifted to intensive care. In a statement, the medical team noted that “he is stable but is under close observation regarding his clinical status,” reflecting a cautious stance on his current condition.

Journalist Vickey Lalwani shared on Instagram that the veteran writer had developed a blood clot and had felt giddy before his family decided to take him to the hospital. While this diagnosis has been widely reported by media outlets, there has been no formal statement from the family or the hospital’s medical team confirming the exact cause.

Following the news of his hospitalisation, members of Salim Khan’s family were seen at the hospital throughout the night to check on him. Close friends and industry figures, including actor Sanjay Dutt and fellow screenwriter Javed Akhtar, also arrived at the hospital premises in the evening, underscoring the concern within the film fraternity.

According to reports, a press briefing with updates on his health condition was expected on February 18, subject to the family’s consent, with respect for patient confidentiality being emphasised by hospital officials.
