Television actress Shilpa Shinde has opened up about one of the most disturbing phases of her life, recalling how a fake MMS clip circulated in her name left her and her family traumatised. The actress shared the painful memories just weeks after she made headlines for admitting that the sexual harassment complaint she filed against the producer of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! in 2017 was false, sparking widespread backlash.
Speaking in a recent interview with Galatta India, Shilpa revealed that she first learned about the alleged MMS while attending a press conference. According to the actress, a media person called her asking if she had seen a particular video.
Recalling the shocking moment, Shilpa said she initially feared the footage might have been secretly recorded during a costume trial. "I thought maybe someone had secretly filmed me in the dressing room while I was changing. When I opened the video, I saw a couple lying on a bed. I looked at it and asked, 'Who are these people?'" she said.
The actress added that her first reaction was not panic but confusion, even noticing the untidy bedsheet before she was informed that the clip was being circulated as if it featured her.
Shilpa further alleged that some people tried to blackmail her using the fake video, threatening to release it publicly if she did not comply with their demands. Eventually, the doctored clip was leaked online under misleading titles claiming it featured the Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! actress.
The actress admitted that the incident deeply affected her family, especially her mother, who had to endure embarrassing questions from people. To get to the bottom of the matter, Shilpa spent nearly seven hours with the cybercrime department. The investigation reportedly found that the footage featured lookalikes from adult films and had been falsely linked to her.
Shilpa also claimed that similar morphed videos surfaced during her stint on Bigg Boss, where edited clips involving her and fellow contestants were allegedly circulated online.
Reflecting on the emotional toll of the episode, the actress confessed that the relentless harassment pushed her to a breaking point. She said she even contemplated ending her life and wanted to name those she believed were responsible so they could be held accountable.
Her revelations come shortly after she faced intense criticism for admitting that the sexual harassment case she had filed against producer Sanjay Kohli years ago was fabricated. While Shilpa has maintained that she felt cornered by contractual issues and saw no other way to fight for her dues, her confession drew sharp reactions from members of the television industry and various organisations.
