Businessman Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away on June 12 while playing polo in the UK. As per reports, Sunjay was riding a horse during the match when he accidentally swallowed a bee. The insect got lodged in his throat, causing severe irritation and triggering panic, which eventually led to a fatal heart attack. Despite immediate attempts to revive him, he could not be saved.
A month after his untimely death, his mother, Rani Kapur, raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding his demise. In a letter addressed to the company, she questioned the lack of clarity surrounding the incident. "On June 12, my son Mr. Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away under highly suspicious and unexplained circumstances in the United Kingdom. Despite all attempts, I am not able to receive answers about my son’s death. Despite me seeking information, I have been unable to receive any relevant answers and documents explaining the incident and have been confined to the knowledge and version set out by the media. While we’re in mourning, some people trying to usurp family legacy," she reportedly wrote.
Rani Kapur further expressed that she had not consented to any new board members being added to the Sona group of companies and that she has been denied access to her own accounts. "I have been left to the mercy of a select few for survival. All this, in less than a month of my only son passing," she said.
She also alleged that she was forced to sign documents during her grieving period. "Despite being under immense mental and emotional distress, I was coerced into signing such documents behind locked doors... the contents of such documents have never been revealed to me," she added, as per News18.
Sunjay is survived by his wife Priya Sachdev and their son Azarias, along with two children from his previous marriage with actress Karisma Kapoor.
