Cactus: Aneek Chaudhuri’s Silent Film To Be Preserved In Oscars Archive
There is good news for director Aneek Chaudhuri as his silent film Cactus will be preserved at the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences: The Oscars archive. The film has already won many awards and accolades in the past.

The news has shared by director Aneek and he received mail. The film features Aparajita Dey, Anurupa Chakraborty and Aishani De.

The film is a story on Jesus Christ. The short film is divided into three eras i.e. BC, Christ era and AD. Cactus utilizes the artform of Pieta and the last Supper to derive perceptions about the origin and death of Jesus. Here, Jesus has been portrayed as a female.

The film is a commentary on Jesus Christ through a silent mode and this tends to portray Jesus in her female avatar. It is a 90-minute feature-length narrative.

Anurupa Chakraborty and Aishani De play Mother Mary in two different eras, while Aparajita Dey plays the female avatar of Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, Cactus was also screened at Cannes earlier this year. The film opened in Vienna and was nominated for Rome Film Awards.

According to the sources, critics have termed the film to be a visual painting experience. Aneek is busy with his upcoming Hindi feature ‘Kamra’.
