Ram Kamal Mukherjee had announced his film titled as ‘Binodini Dasi’ last year. The director has already gained name from his two short films ‘Cakewalk’ and ‘Seasons Greetings’ which has been part of many film festivals.
Talking about his project to The Times of India, the director said that he has started working on the script of the film ‘Binodini Dasi’ which will be based on the life of the iconic Bengali theater actress Notee Binodini.
The director was about to start the shooting of the film but had to stop because of the outbreak of coronavirus. However, the cast of the film has not been finalized. Not many know that about Notee Binodini was a Calcutta-based, Bengali-speaking renowned actress and thespian. She started acting at the age of 12 and ended by the time she was 23, as she later recounted in her noted autobiography, Amar Katha (The Story of My Life) published in 1913.
Director Ram Kamal Mukherjee has also roped Bollywood's leading VFX producer Rajeev Kumar Rastogi along with his producer Aritra Das for his magnum opus ‘Binodini Dasi.
Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s Seasons Greetings is being aired on ZEE5. The short film is a tribute to Rituparno Ghosh and stars Celina Jaitly Haag, Lillette Dubey and debutant Azhar Khan in the lead role.
