“Some Movies don't leave you... They create an imprint and an after taste. One of them is JAATISHWAR by Srijit Mukherji Sir starring Prosenjit Sir, as Hensman Anthony /Anthony Firingee (Foreigner) , a Portuguese Musician who turns into a Bengali Minstrel and goes on to compose one of the best divine songs in the honour of Devi Durga ...The film in itself is larger than life. It takes us to the 19th century Bengal , introduces us to the divine musical culture of erstwhile Bengal, to the tradition of 'Kobigaan' or musical duels between great Musicians/Poets like Bhola Moira , Haru Thakur and others. Through Hensman Anthony , the film beautifully establishes the fact that culture , divinity and spirituality are not confined by boundaries of nationality, or by one's birthplace. One would fall in love with the way Anthony, a man of Portuguese descent, imbibes tenets of Bengali Culture , learns the nuances of Bangla Language , interacts with Minstrels and singers ,and becomes a devotee of Mohamaya . In the last Musical Duel , the song he performs , is the message for the Humanity... when he is asked to go to a Church to pray, he replies - 'There is indeed no difference between Christ and Krishna...' JAATISHWAR , a film oscillating between two time periods, is obviously a must watch. For my Non Bengali friends , I can offer to act as a translator,” Fan wrote in the post.

The film stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee. The film has been recognized as the most awarded film in the 61st National Film Awards with 4 awards in the following categories - Best Male Playback Singer (Rupankar Bagchi for the song E Tumi Kamon Tumi), Best Costume Design (Shaborni Das), Best Music Direction (Songs) (Kabir Suman) and Best Makeup Artist (Vikram Gaikwad).
