Password: I don’t have time for social media, says Parambrata Chatterjee
His upcoming film Password is about cyber crime. It also talks about over-sharing on social media platforms, as seen in the trailers. However, Parambrata Chatterjee, one of the leads of the film, has no time for social media! “I get a lot of advice about being more active on social media. I hear that many brands are interested in tie-ups with me. But I have two problems,” begins Parambrata. What are they? He explains, “The biggest problem is the sheer absence of time. Working in the public domain, I can’t possible post a pic of me in boxers! Neither can I write a bunch of random stuff. But I simply don’t have the time to dress up or select a line of thought, just for one Instagram photo.”

For those wondering why Parambrata Chatterjee is so busy, here’s a rundown: not only does the good-looking man act in films, he also directs a fair share of them. Besides, he is at the helm of a full-fledged production company. At any given time, Parambrata has to balance acting, directing, post production and script-writing. Apart from a physical absence of time, another reason why Parambrata steers clear of social media is that he is a taciturn person. “I’m not that communicative. I don’t understand concepts like social media influencers. I’m not very tech savvy. After all, I was born in the 80s!” laughs Parambrata.

Though not a fan of social media, Parambrata Chatterjee is an avid user of the Internet. “I get no time to read books. As compensation I read e-books and watch streaming content. If I come across any mention of historical events in a book or series, I log on to the Internet to read more about it. You might say I’m mildly addicted to Wikipedia,” says Parambrata.

Parambrata has a word of advice for his young fans on how to use social media responsibly. He says, “Use it for connecting with friends. Don’t use it as a substitute for reading or a university education! There is a difference between news and knowledge, which is getting blurred thanks to social media. Don’t substitute real knowledge with the news you find on social media.”

Speaking on Password, Parambrata explains that it is much more than a film on cyber crime. “Cyber crime is at the centre of our film. But at the same time Password is a standalone, well made action thriller. It is entertaining and fast paced.”
Password, directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee hits theatres on 2nd October. It also stars Tollywood superstar Dev, Rukmini and Paoli Dam.
