Raajhorshee De: Purba Poschim Dokkhin director starts 2020 with an acting stint in Byomkesh

Raajhorshee De has had a memorable 2019. The past year saw the release and warm reception of his first film, Purba Poschim Dokkhin Uttor Ashbei. He has started work on his next feature film also. But before that, Raajhorshee De is all excited about hitting OTT screens as an actor. He plays a pivotal role in Byomkesh, the hugely popular detective series that streams on Hoichoi. Acclaimed actor Anirban Bhattacharya plays Byomkesh Bakshi, the beloved Bengali sleuth. Hoichoi has just launched season five of Byomkesh.
This new season is based on two stories written by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay-- Khnuji Khnuji Nari and Dushtochakra. Screenwriter Sougata Basu has adapted these two stories for the web platform. This season is directed by Soumik Haldar. Raajhorshee De plays the role of Bishupal, who acts as a catalyst in this Byomkesh adventure.
“This is my third work with Sougata. We had first worked together in Laboratory, a Hoichoi film, where I had acted. Next came my own film Rifle, where I worked as a director. And now Byomkesh season five is our hat-trick,” smiled Raajhorshee De. He added, “It feels nice to take a break from making films and being in front of the camera for a change. I enjoyed working in Byomkesh.”
Byomkesh debuted on Hoichoi in October 2017 and has enjoyed popularity ever since. Viewers have praised Anirban Bhattacharya’s turn as Byomkesh. In the new season, Suprabhat Das plays Ajit, the detective’s friend and the chronicler of his adventures. Ridhima Ghosh returns as Satyabati, Byomkesh’s wife.
