Shonku O El Dorado: Actor Dhritiman Chatterjee Talks About The Challenges In Essaying Lead Character
Actor Dhritiman Chatterjee will play the lead role as Professor Trilokeshwar Shonku. Actor Shubhashis Mukhopadhyay will play his well wisher Nokurbabu. he first film will be based on the story “Nokurbabu O El Dorado”.
It was few days back that first look of much awaited Shonku O El Dorado has been released. The look created buzz on the social media. The film is on popular character created by Satyajit Ray and it is none other than Professor Shonku, a crazy scientist.
Recently, veteran actor Dhritiman Chatterjee who will portray professor Shonku in the film talked about his role and challenges.
“The main problem was to adjust Shonku to the modern world. I have to play the character keeping in mind every minute detail mentioned in the original stories," said Dhritiman to Pycker.

Directed Sandip Ray, son of Satyajit Ray, was planning to make a movie on Professor Shonku for long time but was not getting suitable producers for the venture. The first film will be based on the story “Nokurbabu O El Dorado”.

Dhritiman Chatterjee began his acting career in 1970 as the protagonist of Satyajit Ray's Pratidwandi (The Adversary). Most of his acting work has been in India's "parallel", or independent, cinema with filmmakers such as Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen and Aparna Sen, among others. He has also worked in English films with well-known filmmakers such as Deepa Mehta and Jane Campion. He has received several acting awards in India and has been on the Jury of the Indian National film Awards.
