The smouldering model and actress is the proud owner of The Vanity, a posh salon in Newtown, Kolkata. Here’s what Rachel White has to say about her ‘beautiful’ venture
What happens when a beautiful woman wants to make other women look and feel beautiful? A ‘happy place’ called The Vanity is born! This salon and make up studio located in Newtown, Kolkata was started by Rachel White in 2019. “I always wanted to start a salon. But I had to keep it on hold for a long time because of work. Also, it’s not easy to manage a business in Kolkata while I’m living in Mumbai. But finally this year I gathered the courage to go ahead. I felt mature enough to handle it,” says the leggy model and actress. She was recently in the news for speaking out against director Sajid Khan, during the #metoo movement.
Rachel still lives in Mumbai, but is fully involved in the running of The Vanity. “We have a Whatsapp group where I can stay in touch with my stylists and beauticians. I keep them updated about latest trends. I travelled to Kolkata this festive season, so that I could operate on a more hands-on level during the festival rush,” says Rachel. The Vanity is a full service salon, offering the whole gamut of pampering from hair and nails to skin and make up.
The biggest USP of The Vanity, according to Rachel, is that it’s a feel good space. “Most of the salons I have visited make you feel flawed. They point out what all is wrong with your skin or hair. My place is not like that. We believe in making our clients enjoy themselves, just the way they are. They should enjoy whatever service they choose, and not be badgered with unwanted advice. It’s more like a vanity van, where you can enjoy yourself,” explains Rachel.
Along with beauty services, The Vanity also offers clients coffee and cookies. Rachel White and her team are all ready to add some sparkle and shine to your look, this Christmas!
