Actor Vikram Singh Chauhan, who has some popular TV shows to his credit, was also a part of Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 2. The actor played Inspector Anup Singhal in the movie and received a good response for his role. However, unlike other TV actors, he has no goal of shifting to big screen completely.
In an exclusive interview with us, Vikram spoke to us about his experience of doing Mardaani 2 and how he got cast for the role. Excerpts from the interview below:
How was your experience working with Rani Mukerji in Mardaani 2?
It was an amazing experience to be part of such content where you get to work with a fabulous actor like Rani Mukerji. It was a great opportunity and I didn't want to lose out on that as all my scenes were with her. She is amazing, extremely grounded, helpful to others and the best part is that she gives her 100% even at this stage of career, when she knows no one will question her.
How much did you get to interact with her during the shoots?
I had most of my scenes with her as we were shown as a core group in the film. To establish that connect, Rani ji used to be with us off-screen too. There were so many things that we discussed about and of course among that one thing was how much I loved her in her films.
I am a big fan of Rani Mukerji ever since her film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. I have loved all her work till now but her performance in Mardaani and Hitchki was amazing.
How did this role came to you?
Shanoo (casting director at Yashraj) wanted to test me for one of the characters in Mardaani 2. I auditioned for that but then she called me again and said I want you to audition for a different character also. So, I tested for 3-4 characters in Mardaani 2. The director liked my work and he wanted me to be part of it. So finally I was shortlisted for Anup because as per my age, look, I fitted that character.
So now you permanently want to shift to Bollywood, like other TV actors?
For me, its important to be a part of good content and explore different platforms than just being stuck to one. That's why after doing Mardaani 2, I shot for Baarish 2, which is a web show, and I am also a part of TV show, Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka.
