Gulshan Devaiah On The MeToo Controversy: “Yeh Jo Bomb Fatta Hai, Yeh Bahut Zaroori Tha”
In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE.com, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Gulshan Devaiah has reacted on the #MeToo wave. Here’s what he has to say
Abhimanyu Dassani, Radhika Madan and Gulshan Devaiah starrer Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota hit theatres this Friday. A few days ago, we met Gulshan Devaiah at Mehbood Studios, where he spoke to us about his film, nepotism, and the #MeToo controversy.
Gulshan has been away from the circuit for a while, so, it was imperative for us to ask him that in an industry where there is so much competition, does he ever approach filmmakers for work, and the actor replied, “Those who want to work with me call. I very rarely ask. I have approached a few directors and told them I want to work with you. But I feel very embarrassed.”
The industry was hit by the #MeToo wave, some time back, we asked Devaiah about his opinion on it, to which he said, “Yeh jo bomb fatta hai, yeh bahut zaroori tha. Because, it was building up pressure since very long.” WATCH TH VIDEO ABOVE.
It's definitely great to see Gulshan back on-screen but we asked him why is he not giving more of him to fans. “I want to work more, but I want to keep the versatility maintained in my life and also I keep experimenting with my work. At times, I am not able to do a few films, because I think I am quite a diverse and versatile actor, who keeps waiting for those opportunities, where I can totally dedicate myself to it. After A Death In The Gunj, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota was one of those projects, which I got after a long time.”
Further Gulshan told us how he ended up playing a character in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota despite an injury and did stunts all by himself. He also revealed how he got along with the debutant Abhimanyu Dassani and also Patakha actress, Radhika Madan easily. He even revealed how he used to pull Radhika’s leg on-the-sets of the film.
Gulshan Devaiah has played a variety of roles till now, and they all interestingly had a grey shade to it. When asked if it happens by choice or because he likes playing the bad boy in the film, he said, “It’s my double role in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. Judwaa bhai hain jis mein se one is one leg karate guy and the 2nd one is a mawali type guy. I am actually going to stop playing these villainous roles. I want to do different types of roles and every role is new for me, which is start from scratch. So much so, that at times people wrongly dial my number and call me Gulshan ji, thinking that its Gulshan Grover’s number. And I tell them I am not Gulshan ji I am just Gulshan.”
