Malaal Song, Aila Re Girl Sushri Shreya Mishra On Nepotism: "Outsiders Like Me Have To Work A Little Extra For Their First Break"
Sushri Shreya Mishra who has represented India at the Miss United Continents Pageant in 2015, is excited about her item song Aila Re from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Malaal that has her shaking a leg with Meezaan Jaffery.

While, the song has been released online and continues earning praise, we engaged in a quick interview with the actress to know how she landed this number and her take on nepotism and much more.

How did you bag this song?
Ans: I auditioned for the role. There were a lot of girls who auditioned for the part and just like any other audition I went for it, waited for my turn and gave my best. I wasn’t very sure considering I had my own reservations about an item song and also the fact that they were considering to have 3 girls. But after I got to know all the details about how far Sanjay sir has gone to compose the song and how much he loved it and Ganesh Acharya sir will be doing the choreography plus they had taken the call to only cast me along with Meezaan there was no looking back.

What was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's reaction on seeing the final song?
This is one of his favourite songs from the film and I just feel so lucky that I’m getting the opportunity be a part of it. He came on set the first day of filming and I was just awestruck taking his directions.

Since both the other actors are part of the industry, what’s your take on nepotism?
Everyone has has their own share of struggle, but having said that, people who aren’t from the industry have to work a little extra to get that first break but I believe that after that everyone has to work equally hard. The ruling queens Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are not from the industry and they have marked their own niche and are unstoppable and I aspire to be like them some day. Even though the other actors in the film are a part of the industry, I’m getting an equally big break with this song and getting the opportunity of working with the creme de la creme of the industry like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mangesh Hawdale, Ganesh Acharya to name a few, so I couldn’t be more grateful. And I personally believe that the harder you work, the luckier you get, so I’m hoping this song eventually materialises into bigger work opportunities considering my theatre background.

What made you say yes to the song?
I’ve always dreamt of working with Sanjay Sir and Ganesh Acharya Sir but never In my wildest dreams I had imagined it to come true this way. When I got to know that both the pioneers I had always dreamt of working with are associated with the song there was no looking back. I just had to say yes.

Any instance you want to share that happened during the shoot of the song?
Lot of great moments on the set as well as during the rehearsals of the song, and memories I’ll always treasure. One day Meezaan got home, cooked food for everyone on set and we all were chilling together and relishing the delicious biryani like a big, happy family is something which is etched in my heart.

Are you only planning to do item / solo numbers or you have plans of acting too?
I've done theatre for the last two years and I’ve polished my craft as an actor, then I’ve done Visharad in Odissi and I’m trained in aerial silk rope dance, Kathak, Bollywood to name a few. So right now, I just want to work consistently with good people, good scripts, good songs, good directors, good choreographers and create some magic on screen.
